Whether you're pedaling through lonely stretches along the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route or setting out on a local bikepacking trip for a weekend of human-powered adventure, you can't beat the the Salsa Cutthroat for its speed, comfort, and efficiency. The full-carbon frame and fork uses varied tubing shapes to create the most compliant ride possible while maintaining stiffness for productive pedaling. Drop-bar specific geometry provides stability and relief on endurance rides that cross all types of terrain. The Cutthroat Rival features a 2x11-speed drivetrain for useful gearing while loaded down and SRAM Rival hydraulic disc brakes with 160mm rotors for ample power and great modulation. The Cutthroat accommodates multi-day packing needs with its extra-large front triangle for voluminous frame bags, mounts for a rear rack, and room for 4 or 5 water bottles depending on frame size, while clearance for up to 2.4-inch tires increases the Cutthroat's capability as an all-terrain rambler that's ready to run.

This is the first bike I've had since the 1990s that puts a smile on my face every time I ride it, no matter what kind of a ride it is. I've ridden it on fast group road rides, long, nasty gravel road rides, on-road/off-road exploration rides, and full-on mountain bike rides. With a 700x38c gravel tire it rides much like a Warbird (a medium Cutthroat has a slightly longer wheelbase, but otherwise exact geo numbers as a 55 Warbird). With studded knobbies and a Lauf TR29 suspension fork it rides like a fast XC rig on all kinds of frozen trails. Load it up with camping gear and go anywhere for any distance, or fill it up with its 7 waterbottle carrying capacity. Or strip it down to its bare essentials and it's a 20 lb. 29er hardtail with plenty of trail cred.
