Area Recommendations

Our Favorite Trails

We are lucky to have some amazing mountain bike trails in our area. Barkeater Trail Alliance (BETA) is our local trail organization that plans, builds, and maintains our world-class trail networks. For info on all our local trails as well as info on ways to support BETA, click here. Below are some maps of our favorite loops in the area. Feel free to stop in our store or give us a call for specific info and recommendations.

Bike Rentals

View our rental page for mountain bike rental options, and contact us with any questions. All of our mountain bike rentals are available for pickup in downtown Lake Placid and within riding distinct trails, making them a convenient option to squeeze in a ride in between the action.

Ride The Adirondack Rail Trail

A ride on the Adirondack Rail Trail is a fun adventure for the whole family, and with out-and-back rides long enough for even the most serious riders, it is a perfect spot for any group. Our store is a half mile from the start of the ADK Rail Trail and can be your home base for your adventure. We offer rental bikes and e-bikes for the whole family, shuttles, gear, local knowledge, and more.

See our complete rail trail guide for information about parking, distances, rentals, shuttles, and more.

Canoe, kayak, or SUP on Mirror Lake

We can’t think of a better way to celebrate the 4th than paddling and relaxing on Mirror Lake. We have enough lightweight canoes, kayaks, and SUPs available to rent for this weekend for even the largest of groups. From the rear entrance of HPC, it is only a short walk to the beach, so there is no need for the stress of loading/unloading your car. Give us a call to learn more about our paddling rentals. Fish the legendary Adirondack Waters

Stop in the Adirondack Outfitters Guide House, located next to HPC, to talk to local experts and shop our collection of fly and spin rods and tackle. Plus, utilize our rental equipment or book a guide to slow down and share the simple joy of fishing with the whole family.
